Funeral services and Celebrations of Life
I can work with you to create and lead funeral ceremonies at a range of venues. I am familiar with leading services at crematoria, and working closely and with Funeral Directors and other professionals to ensure everything runs smoothly. I have also held services at village halls, woodlands, and natural and green burial grounds.
My standard fee includes everything we need to do to get the service right: an initial meeting with you, emails, phone calls, drafts and revisions, helping you with the music, keeping in contact with the Funeral Director and venue for the ceremony, holding the service for you on the day, and providing a presentation copy of the service. Higher fees will apply for more complex arrangements, such services held across separate days or venues, or for longer gatherings – but please do contact me so we can discuss your individual requirements.
I am flexible and professional, and am considered by funeral directors to be a ‘safe pair of hands’.
Scattering of ashes
Sometimes families would like some guidance, and perhaps someone to lead a simple ceremony for the scattering or interring of the ashes. I can help with this – I’ve taken scattering ceremonies in woodlands, on hills and in gardens.
Memorial services
Families who have chosen a direct cremation or private burial, may wish to hold a separate gathering to remember the person who has died. This can vary from the same day as the private cremation/burial to weeks, months or even years later. I will work with you to shape and lead a fitting memorial in which the person who has died can be remembered.
Planning ahead
More people are thinking ahead about their future funeral wishes. I can meet with you, chat through various options and explore what feels right for you, hear your memories and stories, and keep a record of your preferences (and give you one to keep with your important documents). This can be helpful later on when the time comes for the funeral.
Workshops and talks
I am also able to provide talks, discussions and workshops about all aspects of funerals for interested groups. as well as being a celebrant, I am trained in funeral arranging, and care of the person who has died, so I am able to give a gentle and honest overview of options open to families. I have led workshops and discussions, and given talks on planning creative and beautiful funeral ceremonies.
